| We
were involved in building a dump retreatment gold plant in Johannesburg
for Golden Dumps, and conducted the engineering design for a more
complex one in Botswana for Phelps Dodge. We conducted a study for
Billiton's low cost, high efficiency gold plant and were subsequently
given a contract for its design, management and construction. Owing
to the depressed gold price the Weltevreden project was shelved
as plant construction neared completion. A feasibility study was
completed for a new treatment facility for Sabi Mine in Zimbabwe.
More recent work has been completed in Mali
and Zimbabwe, as well as a host of studies and plant audits in South
Africa.
Recent work on Gold has included the rehabilitation
of a Russian built Gold plant in Mali, at Kalana The initial project
is successfully producing Gold and work will start shortly on a
major expansion of the facilities at this mine. Rehabilitation of
the winding plant and electrical reticulation have all formed part
of our initial involvement at this site.
A project on Blyvooruitzicht Mine near Carltonville
has seen DRA design and construct a 240,000tpm CIL Tailings Re-Treat
Project which is set to give a large established West Rand mine
an extension in life.
DRA has recently extended it’s activities
in gold to include back fill treatment at the world class Driefontein
Mine.
