DRA
began trading in January 1984. Commencing in the heart of a severe
recessionary phase, the intention was to establish a project engineering
company with a mining / mineral processing project focus and with
an accent on a high standard of engineering competence and a leaning
towards the practical application of computer technology to project
engineering. Since that time our project company has expanded to
its present complement of over eight hundred people.
Fifty
members of our staff are registered professional engineers; one
hundred and fourteen have BSc degrees, twenty are registered Project
Management Professionals (PMP), and the balance of our two hundred
and twenty one engineers are all well qualified in their respective
positions. The members of the team have all been used to working
on large capital projects in the minerals processing fields of coal,
diamonds, gold, platinum and base metals. Some engineers have also
had experience in the mineral sands, vanadium, steel and gasification
industries.
During our existence to date, our rapid growth
has frequently involved the need to make 'quantum leaps' in order
to accommodate increases in work loading as these have arisen. Generally,
our policy, in keeping with general practice in contract engineering,
is to build a sound core of senior project personnel and augment
these individuals with contract draughting staff. We believe that
our high ratio of professional engineers demonstrates this policy.
Viewed from the point of view of process, mechanical and electrical
engineering staff, we can field an immediate team of considerable
competence and experience.

We consider our expertise in the following
disciplines to be essential to your project’s success:
